Margaret Keavney, JD, MHA, practices law at Keavney & Streger, LLC, serving EMS providers and other healthcare professionals in New Jersey and Louisiana. A former paramedic and volunteer EMT, she attended law school and graduate school at Tulane University. Margaret served in the past on the CAAS Panel of Commissioners, the Board of the Medical Transportation Association of New Jersey, and the Ethics Committee of the American Ambulance Association. She currently serves on the Board of the American College of Paramedic Executives. She writes and lectures nationally on legal topics in EMS.
Jennifer McCarthy MAS, NRP, CHSE-A serves as the Director of Simulation and Clinical Associate Professor for the School of Health and Medical Sciences, Seton Hall University (SHU) where she designs and delivers simulation activities for six graduate healthcare programs. Jennifer delivers simulation to over 3750 students annually. She is also the President and founding member of 579 Solutions, LLC which is dedicated to driving positive change within patient care focused organizations. Jennifer has earned the distinguished credential of Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator – Advanced (CHSE-A) which is bestowed on less than 125 simulationists globally. Jennifer is a longstanding EMS professional awarded with many accolades including the Seton Hall President Student Success Award (2021), One of the Top 17 People to Watch in Healthcare (201 Magazine, January 2015) and has received the EMS Career Lifetime Achievement Award (November 2015) and the EMS Educator of the Year Award (2007) presented by the New Jersey Department of Health Office of Emergency Medical Services and the New Jersey EMS Council.
Shay Steel, EMT-P is a seasoned professional in the field of pre-hospital care, public safety and disaster management with a combined 28 years of experience in emergency services and law enforcement. Dedicated to improving education and training for all healthcare providers and law enforcement officers, Shay currently works to advance simulation through augmented reality patients. Former law enforcement officer, forensic anthropologist, and park ranger. Current paramedic, EMS educator, speaker, education and patient advocate, and dog mom.
Barry Bachenheimer, Ed.D, FF/NREMT, has been a career educator for over 30 years, serving as a teacher, supervisor, principal, Director of Curriculum, and Assistant Superintendent in public schools in New Jersey. He has served as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University in the graduate school since 1998. Dr. Bachenheimer has been involved in EMS since 1986 in ALS and BLS roles, both volunteer and career and remains an active provider. He has also served as an instructor in a variety of disciplines in fire, EMS, rescue, and tactical medicine. He is a frequent contributor for EMS World Magazine and Is the author of several books and book chapters.
